Teaching
Teaching philosophy
Over the past decade, I have acquired substantive teaching experience: I have taught compulsory and optional modules in both public and private universities; in English and Spanish, online and in-person. I have taught seminars with just two students and given lectures to 150 people. All of these experiences were as rewarding as challenging.
Throughout these years, I have continuously reflected on and changed how I approached my classes. In this process, my guiding principle as a teacher has been to be flexible enough to accompany and support students in their learning journey, rather than forcing them to follow a pre-determined path. I do not want my students to just acquire knowledge: I want them to co-produce it.
In particular, I attempt to create an environment in which everyone’s contributions—especially those who belong to communities historically underrepresented in higher education—are heard and valued.
